What a wonderful year! Although it came and went very fast it was a year full of anticipation, great gifts, and yet some tears for our family.
We got to spend the first 3 months of the year preparing a nursery, having baby showers, taking childbirth classes and convincing each other that we really would know what we were doing when the time came!
We enjoyed the next 7 months bringing home the most precious baby girl, experiencing first hand what parenting is all about (the priceless moments and the pull your hair out moments), watching her grow, learn, experience the pool and beach for the first time, having her baptised, taking her on trips to Roanoke, watching her "taste" food, play with her toys, meet new friends and develop her personality.
November was a sad month as we had to say goodbye to Cody, our first "baby" and the treasure that started our family. He was along for the ride and walked our road of happy moments, sad nightmares, and everything in between! We miss him terribly, but know he is running free and watching over us and still very much a part of our life story.
We also got to celebrate Claire's first holiday season the last 2 months of the year, with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. What a fun filled few months and we enjoyed every minute with her! During these months she also progressed into a busy, moving, crawling, and pulling up little girl! She is curious and nothing stops her, but she is so fun and entertaining. We can't wait to see what the next few months hold as we move towards her first birthday!
We really hold close our family and friends for the love and support you have given us over the last year. Our life has changed, definitely for the best, and having you here to experience it with us made it that much better! Thanks for the memories of 2008 and we look forward to wonderful ones to come in 2009! Happy New Year!

8 months old
I'm not sure how we're here already, but Claire is 8 months old today. What a joy she is to our life! She is wonderful, such a blessing and perfect in every way. She can make your bad day turn to smiles, make you laugh when you least expect it and melt your heart in 2 seconds flat! She is definitely the best thing that has ever happened to us and a true gift from God.
At 8 months, she is 15 lbs/12 oz, talking non-stop, loves to dance, has discovered her pointer finger (she points at everything), crawls everywhere she can and is pulling up most of the time on her own. She still loves to eat, knows what the highchair is for and you can't get the food ready fast enough. She loves being outside, to watch the trees and leaves blow, enjoys walks and of course can't get enough of Gabby! She is constantly on the move and into something new every time you turn around. She enjoys having play dates with her friends, is riding in the buggy without her car seat(and of course talks to everyone that walks by her), sits in a highchair in restaurants, and has a new car seat that makes her look like shes ready for Nascar! She still lives for bath time and can't wait for her naked time before and after (especially crawling from her floor into our bathroom to the tub).
She is just amazing and it's the best thing in the world to catch her learn, grow and have new experiences. We are anxiously awaiting Christmas day and to see her face as she takes in the new sights and sounds of Christmas morning.
We took on the mall today and spent 2 hours waiting in line to see Santa....if you're wondering how we all lasted, Claire was wonderful, Chris & I were struggling :) But we made it and got on his lap just before he stopped for an hour lunch break. And I do mean barely made it, we were the last one before they pulled the rope. Of course I have to think that we had the cutest baby in line and he couldn't have said no to her! Here is a picture from our first, of many I'm sure, 2 hour adventure!
