Baby Ruby
I wanted to share this local news link about a family here in Knoxville. This family gave birth to a special baby girl, Ruby on Dec 22nd and 2 weeks later on Jan 6th, the mother died of blood pressure complications.
The community has surrounded them with support, donations and love. It is a touching story that makes you remember to hold & hug your loved ones a little tighter, be thankful for every blessing and cherish each and every day to the fullest!
The photographer that is mentioned in the article is the one who takes our photos and my moms group at church took bag after bag of diapers, clothes, toys, formula, bottles, etc to this poor grieving dad of a 2 week old newborn.

5. Update Blog
Fifth entry on my long January to do list-checked off!!
Well we are almost into the second month of the new year and I have slowly added Christmas pictures and a few fun Jan entries but I have not had any free time to sit and write/update anything major!
So I will do a quick recap of 2010 and then throw you into our already busy 2011!
I had just fully gotten used to writing 2010 and now it has already come and gone....we started the year out by continuing to get settled into our new life here in Knoxville & also a growing new bump in my belly!
We enjoyed some fun things in Jan, Feb and then loved what March brought with it. We celebrated a wonderful 2nd birthday with Claire followed by an amazing and somewhat unplanned trip to Disney World. It was by far one of the best trips we've ever taken and cant wait to go again...this time with little sister in tow and I have a feeling some grandparents :) But hey, the more the merrier!
We came home to a fun filled Easter weekend as well as my 30th birthday on our doorstep! I was in a little denial, but decided to embrace this new decade and be thankful for health and happiness as I became an official adult, right??!!
Chris & I enjoyed a trip alone to Charlotte after battling the worst case of the flu we had ever had! It ran like wild fire through our house and also attacked all those who came to help us out! It was nice to get away, see friends and do a little more birthday celebrating! May brought a fun graduation ceremony and celebration with Tyler and then off to Hilton Head for a much needed week of relaxation! And the entire time praying we didnt get an early arrival from a much expected and ready to come Caroline!
But she held on and we enjoyed the rest of June and beginning of July (as much as you can enjoy being 30 pounds over weight & 9 months pregnant in 90 degree temps)! Then on July 14th our family was blessed with the most amazing, beautiful, and precious gift of another sweet baby girl! That was definitely the highlight of the year and since then life has been busy, hectic, never ending and WONDERFUL!
As we finally got into our new routine, August came and it was time for Miss Claire to start preschool. What a great thing for her and she has enjoyed every minute of it! September brought the fun fall things, cooler weather, and finally a happy Halloween in October. Our little Tinkerbell and Black Cat were beyond adorable. Then onto November celebrating yet another birthday in our house with daddy, a very happy Thanksgiving here in Knoxville with our sweet FBI friends and then the Christmas season was upon us.
December is always a fun time with holiday music, shopping, lights, Santa, reindeer, Baby Jesus, and lots of cute holiday clothes! We got to enjoy parades and parties at school, a visit to Bethlehem, holiday church services and then a fun filled, snowy trip to Roanoke for the Christmas weekend. After diving into all the gifts, visiting with every grandparent and great grandparent, and eating WAY too many yummy treats, it was deemed a successful holiday!
We did suffer a loss that will forever be remembered at a difficult time of year, but another grandparent went to fly as an angel the day after Christmas and Nellie will forever be missed.
So then came 2011....
January has already been busy with snow days, back to school and lots of activities. It was nice to get back into our regular weekly routine and back into the groove of things after the holidays. Claire enjoys school on Tues/Thurs, music on Wed and art on Fridays. We have been busy at church with new member activities as we are preparing to join our church this spring. I have had several fun and much needed ladies night outs and am looking forward to a weekend retreat in Feb. Chris has been back at it with work but loves the extra days off with the federal holidays in Jan and Feb! We are anxiously awaiting a fun spring with Claires 3rd birthday, having Caroline baptized and the Easter holiday. Then onto the end of school, summer vacations and our little ones 1st birthday! 2011 looks to be full of laughter, fun and adventures for our family and we cant wait to enjoy every minute as our girls grow a year older and our family & marriage become one year stronger!
Stay tuned for more pictures, laughter and surprises....
An extra laugh for today:
At bath time last night we were brushing teeth and I told Claire, make sure you brush good, she said, yes mom, I dont want to get boo boos on my teeth. We smiled and said, do you know what those boo boos are called? She said, cavities mom! (like duh?!) Well ok then...yes we are getting a little worried she is already smarter than we are!! ha!
