These are the days....

OH my, where to start...life is crazy but wonderful! I have come in the office so many times to blog that I've lost count. Someone calls my name or something takes my attention (like bills, emails, phone calls or thank you notes) and I just don't get to it! I have absolutely already realized that the second child doesn't get as many pictures, "statistic keeping," or updates on the blog! I'm lucky to keep everyone fed, clean and safe during a 12 hour period of the day!

Life is great with two but it definitely never stops! I feel like a ping pong ball in overdrive all the time (day and night)! And when Chris is home, we are 100% man on man until we get into bed. Then we still manage to have one child apiece even during the night. Caroline is sleeping great, but Claire has been getting up, so Chris rocks, sings, reads, or even sleeps with her while I sleep in between Caroline's feedings. We laugh every morning when we roll over and ask each other, "so how many times did yours get up last night??!!" We never know what the other one is doing because when we actually do lay our head down and fall asleep, we're out cold and never even know the other is out of the bed with a child!

Claire is filling her role as a big sister just perfectly! She loves playing mommy to her babies and then loving on Caroline whenever she can! She is still trying to find her new position in our "reorganized pack," but for her age is handling it all like a champ! She definitely craves her one on one time with us and we make sure to give her that special time each day. She starts school in 2 weeks and we are really getting her excited for that. She has kept us laughing and keeps a smile on our faces with her funny quotes, questions and gestures! A few of our favorite:

"mommy is she going to bite your other arm?" (breastfeeding)
"oh no, her belly button tag fell off!"
"mommy, do you need some of your hospital juice?" (my water bottle that I got while in the hospital)
"its ok baby Caroline, MY mommy is here!" (while consoling a crying sister)

Caroline is a great newborn! I thought we had it easy with Claire, but this time is just as smooth. Probably even easier since we have a two year old as well! She eats like a champ and sleeps great! She goes almost 5-6 hours during the night and goes right back to sleep after eating, so I feel rested, even if it's interrupted sleep. She is laid back, but likes to be held and loved on (who could blame her?!). We had her newborn photo shoot this morning and she is already stealing the camera just like Claire! She goes back next week for her one month check up and weight check.

Chris and I are in survival mode, but overall feel very lucky, happy and are in heaven with the 2 sweetest girls in the world! I made it through my first week alone last week, even with Claire being sick and was glad daddy could come home to the rescue on Tuesday. I realized at 8am after he had only been gone an hour that I couldn't make it through the day. With a sick 2 yr old wanting to be loved on and held, keeping the girls separated so the baby wouldn't get sick and trying to feed and hold a newborn, it wasn't going to be a possible day! I'm good, but not that good! I asked God for two more arms and hands, but since he didn't come through on that request, I had to call daddy for back up! Things are much better this week and we have enjoyed the park, pool and library, so life will get back to normal, just a new normal!
