29 weeks

Staying Busy

We had another great appointment last week. My weight and blood pressure are right where they should be and the baby's growth and heart beat were good too. I had my glucose test and I passed with flying colors, so no worries there. My antibody test was also negative, so I got another RhoGam shot to cover the rest of the pregnancy and delivery. As you can tell it was a day full of needles!

The baby has been very active over the last few weeks and I have started doing Kick Counts to make sure there isn't any drastic change in her movement. She definitely already knows her Daddy's voice...she can be very still, then hear him start talking and begins moving right away. (I have realized fast that I won't have a chance with the two of them once she is here, she is already very much a Daddy's girl! But I wouldn't have it any other way!)

We also got our crib and the rest of the bedding last weekend, so once the "work crew" gets done in a couple of weeks, it will start looking like a real nursery!

We have been busy with a few other important things as well.... We decided to put the dogs through an "obedience refresher course" in preparation for the baby. We meet with the trainer once a week and then work with the dogs on a daily basis practicing what they learned. They will do a complete baby course with us in a few weeks to teach us exactly what to do when bringing the baby home, introducing them for the first time, and how to ease her into our "pack." We have all definitely learned a lot so far and hope that we each handle the transition of bringing in a little one even better. We have also been "church hunting" for the last few Sundays and are enjoying visiting different congregations in hopes to find one that fits us. We have experienced some really good services and have met a lot of welcoming and friendly people!

3rd Trimester

So the end is definitely in sight as we start the third and last trimester! Here is a little update I get in my email each week and this is what is happening at week 28, with 84 days to go!

Week 28: Baby's eyes open
Your baby is about 15 inches long and weighs about 2 to 3 pounds.
Your baby's eyes are beginning to open and close. The color has been established, but the story's not over yet. Eye color may change within the first six months after birth — especially if your baby's eyes are blue or gray-blue at birth.
Your baby is now sleeping for about 20 to 30 minutes at a time. Fetal movement will be most obvious when you're sitting or lying down.

Baby Gear

So here is our first "baby gear" gift. We got it put together last night, without too much trouble :) I'm sure that was the first of many nights we will have reading instruction manuals to each other!

A few new things

Here are some pictures of a few new things. The changing table, the bed skirt and sheets from the bedding, and some of her new things from Christmas hanging in the closet. As you can see she is already 100% spoiled! We are hoping the crib and the rest of the bedding come in sometime next week!

26 weeks

Nothing too new to report except for a rapidly growing belly and our very active "busy body" as I have started calling her. She moves constantly and loves when I lay down, so she can be quick to remind me that she is there.

My visit yesterday went well, her growth is right on track and that heart beat just keeps getting stronger. I go back in 2 weeks to have my glucose test done and to get measured again. I will continue to go every 2 weeks from here on out as we start the third trimester next week. So we are on the countdown for delivery as Dr. Ward said yesterday.

We got our Childbirth Prep classes scheduled for mid-Feb through the beginning of March, and start our quest for a pediatrician with a consult on Jan 21st.

95 days and counting....

Happy New Year

So it's finally 2008 and we are officially on the countdown...102 days to go! We have made some big progress this week (other than the growing belly), by ordering our nursery furniture and crib bedding. We got to pick up the changing table yesterday and got it put together and are anxious for the crib and bedding to come in a few weeks. We also have registered for those of you who have been asking, you can go to both websites to search for our registry and start buying :)
