Sweet Caroline

Well today I had my 28 week appointment and things went great! All my blood work came back clear, I got my antibody shot for delivery, we had an ultrasound to check my placenta (which has moved up and is not an issue for L&D), the baby looked fantastic and we met with the OB to discuss the "big day" details!

We got lots accomplished and can't believe that we're nearing the end! The third trimester has arrived very fast and with another busy few weeks, things will move even faster! She weighed in at 2 lbs 9 oz, is head down (which could of course change between now and then), her heart rate and fluid levels were good, and of course she moved, kicked, punched and showed off while we were taking a peek at her!

We still have lots to do before she comes, but the nursery is coming along and I'm hoping to start pulling out clothes and "gear" over the next month. Claire is of course getting more and more excited and says she "can't wait to meet you baby sister!" She still gives lots of hugs, kisses and pats to the belly and shares her milk & juice with my belly button!

And yes, she has a name (at least a first one for now), Caroline. We're working on her middle name and have it down to about 2 or 3. But for now she is just our sweet Caroline and we can't WAIT to meet her! We are getting very anxious to add another little girl to our family and the joys of having a baby in the house again. We are also savoring the last couple of months without the lack of sleep, number of dirty diapers, and getting used to the schedule of a baby again, but know first hand it is SO worth it!

Attacked!

Well for the first time ever our entire household was attacked at the same time by a horrible flu bug! I woke up sick around midnight Monday night, Chris had it by the next morning and Claire got it Tuesday evening.

It was terrible & miserable and if Tyler & Grandma hadn't come to the rescue we would have never made it through! Of course, they both caught it and we felt horrible to have passed it along, but seriously owe them for helping out! Chris & I still decided to go to Charlotte for the weekend and thank goodness Poppa came Friday, so he was there to help with Claire while Grandma had it! It was rough all around and here's hoping we don't see another form of that bug for a long time!

On a positive note, Chris and I had a good time away and enjoyed good food, friends and time alone. It was nice not having a child schedule and going & doing like old times in a city that we miss! He also had his 10 year college reunion, so it was great to see old friends and participate in the festivities of the weekend.

Here's hoping the month of May is healthy, happy and full of good times. We have UT's graduation with a big party for Uncle Ty Ty, a wedding for a close friend over Memorial Day weekend and then off to Hilton Head for a week of relaxation before baby arrives!

Playing Catch up

Whew, last week was quite a bit busy and so this may be a large post, but I'll try to play catch up! We had lots going on last week during the day and then I had something almost every evening. So Daddy did dinner, bath and bed time, which was nice for the 2 of them. We had several church things going on, a baby shower for a friend, a ladies night out with our play group, a doctor visit for baby, a doctor visit for Claire's 2 year old well visit, music class, art class, dinner with friends and then we worked on the nursery all weekend.

First things first, all went well with the baby check up. It was an easy visit, just the normal of BP, weight, and heartbeat. I go back in a week for my glucose test and another ultrasound, so we're anxious to see that sweet baby girl again! We can't believe we are sailing into the third trimester already and are slowly but surely getting things ready for her arrival! The bump is getting larger and she moves nonstop! I'm not so sure she isn't more of a squirmer than Claire was, if you can believe that!

Claire did great at her check up. I can't believe it was time for her 2 year old well visit but she was so brave and such a big girl! On the way there, she told me "but mommy nothing hurts and I don't not feel good, so no doctor!" She is quite the comic relief these days! I told her that this was to check her over since she was a big girl now and that he needed to make sure she was ready to be a big sister! She said ok, "tell him to check my heart beat like baby sisters!"

So anyway, she was 34 1/2 inches tall and still only 23 lbs 8 oz, our little long and lean girl! She passed her developmental screening test with flying colors and they said she was the best talking 2 year old they had seen in a long time! She of course had to tell all about her trip to Disney and her baby sister. She sat completely still for her exam and loved when it was time to show her teeth and say "aaahhh!" She is definitely getting her 2 year old molars and inherited our horrible allergies, but other than that she is a healthy happy girl! I had forgotten she had to get a second dose of a shot she got at one year, so I told her no shots and then had to back peddle but she was so cute and sat perfectly still then of course showed everyone her band aide to cover her shot.

Chris worked really hard all weekend on the nursery and it looks really good! We are putting up white bead board and chair rail like we did in Claire's nursery and it is coming along so cute! I will post pics as things progress and hopefully we'll have a full name before long! We are set on a first name but are working hard on the middle!

We have another full week ahead and then Chris and I are getting away for the weekend! We are going to Charlotte for a reunion at Queens, getting massages (which I CAN NOT wait for), and just going to enjoy the weekend by ourselves & with friends!

We missed the annual Kindermourn Duck Race by one weekend, but know that we had ducks out there racing and that our friends were there to cheer them on! Can't believe how much our lives have changed in 3 years, but what a journey that I can honestly say I wouldn't change one second of!

As I sign off, here are a few Claire moments to make you smile today & I promise to get some pictures posted soon!

"Momma, don't go to doctor" but Claire I have to check on baby sister, "ok, I love you baby sister."
"I want to watch Frog Princess" ok, which part do you want to watch, "make them peoples again momma!"
new name for baby sister, "mermaid??"
"feed those birds momma, they hungry and fly around!"

Fun Friday

She LOVES to color, draw, & write-anything that involves a writing tool! She got to be a big girl this morning and use a pen (most of the time it's crayons only) and when I asked her what she was doing she said, "I'm writing my name!"
So proud of herself!
Art class with Garrett, making sunflowers
Swinging at the park on our picnic (I notice every time she gets in the swing just how long her legs are getting)!
Sliding with Garrett
Kissing Baby Taylor goodbye

2 year old pictures

We had Claire's pictures taken tonight at the UT Gardens and it was the perfect day, weather and backdrop for some really cute ones! My photographer broke her foot last Thursday and we didn't do the pictures until 6:30 due to the lighting. So I was worried with Tracie hobbling around on crutches and Claire being exhausted from the day we might be in trouble....but all was worth it!

You can get a sneak peek at a few shots and I will share more once I get the whole disk!
