Busy Bee

We had a really busy week full of lots of fun things that made the days fly by! We went to story hour with Allison and Broughton, had a lunch date with baby Kiera and 2 play dates with new friends Isabella and Carter.

Saturday Daddy and Claire spent the afternoon together while Mommy went to a baby shower and then we got a date night while Claire stayed with Kristen.

You can see it's never dull around here....following Gabby constantly, playing with my new friend Carter, and standing (attempting to push) my grocery cart.

"It's learning time"

So that is what EVERY fisher price toy that we own says when you turn it on....so we say it A LOT! But all jokes aside she got some flashcards for christmas and loves to look at them, learn what's on them, what color they are and "kiss" the textured part if it's an animal. As you can see her favorite is the yellow duckling. Sorry for so many, but I couldn't pick just a few....and the outfit from head to toe was too adorable not to capture more than once :)

Feeding time in the zoo

So this is the new "picture" of what feeding time looks like in the Lucado household. Real food, real work, real mess....priceless! It's the cutest thing you've ever seen to watch her work those little fingers to pick up the food, get it to her mouth (actually hit it) and get to enjoy it! She is very proud of herself when she is successful and loves to hear "good job!"

After waking up from her nap, someone discovered how to pull up on the tall end of her crib and decided to start teething on it. I thought I heard a strange noise, so slowly peeping in from the door,this is what I found looking back at me....

Happy New Year

The holiday has come and gone and it was a perfect one! We had a great time celebrating Claire's first Christmas and now are pondering what to do with and where to put all of her new toys! Our living room and den have quickly turned into a playroom, and mom is contemplating the odds of adding on to the house!

We enjoyed a nice relaxing Christmas eve and day at home and then spent a few days in Roanoke visiting family. We only got a few duplicate gifts, which is good considering the amount of grandparents and great grandparents we had buying presents!

We took a trip to Toys R Us this weekend to make some exchanges and as you can see Claire enjoyed "helping" daddy put together her new kitchen and grocery cart. We also got her a swing and can't wait for the first nice day to get outside and test it out!

Goodbye 2008

What a wonderful year! Although it came and went very fast it was a year full of anticipation, great gifts, and yet some tears for our family.

We got to spend the first 3 months of the year preparing a nursery, having baby showers, taking childbirth classes and convincing each other that we really would know what we were doing when the time came!

We enjoyed the next 7 months bringing home the most precious baby girl, experiencing first hand what parenting is all about (the priceless moments and the pull your hair out moments), watching her grow, learn, experience the pool and beach for the first time, having her baptised, taking her on trips to Roanoke, watching her "taste" food, play with her toys, meet new friends and develop her personality.

November was a sad month as we had to say goodbye to Cody, our first "baby" and the treasure that started our family. He was along for the ride and walked our road of happy moments, sad nightmares, and everything in between! We miss him terribly, but know he is running free and watching over us and still very much a part of our life story.

We also got to celebrate Claire's first holiday season the last 2 months of the year, with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. What a fun filled few months and we enjoyed every minute with her! During these months she also progressed into a busy, moving, crawling, and pulling up little girl! She is curious and nothing stops her, but she is so fun and entertaining. We can't wait to see what the next few months hold as we move towards her first birthday!

We really hold close our family and friends for the love and support you have given us over the last year. Our life has changed, definitely for the best, and having you here to experience it with us made it that much better! Thanks for the memories of 2008 and we look forward to wonderful ones to come in 2009! Happy New Year!
