34 week update

Well, it's been an interesting and eventful week.

We were sent to Labor & Delivery on Tuesday after I thought I had been leaking amniotic fluid and having horrible pelvic pressure. They kept us in triage for 3 hours hooked up to the fetal monitor to monitor any contractions and the baby's activity level and heart rate. They did an exam and found that I was dilated 1 cm and that the baby was engaged and resting (very painfully for me) on my pelvic bone.

We followed up on Wed with an ultrasoud and a quick peek at the baby. She is perfect and weighs 5 lbs 4 oz. We got to see her precious little face and her cute little hand that she kept putting in front of her face (she was obviously not wanting her picture taken). My fluid level was on the lower side when they measured it, so we go back on Tuesday to make sure it hasn't dropped anymore.

After a few days of bed rest and taking it easy, we are still just calm and waiting to see what might or might not happen in the next few weeks. We did another Non Stress Test this morning and the baby is still active and had a good/steady heart rate strip.

So for now we are sitting tight and have our bags packed for any reason she may try to make an early appearance. The doctor will try to stop labor if the contractions start within the next 10-14 days, but after that time, if she is ready and trying to come, then we won't stop her.

We hate our trip to Roanoke got cancelled for this weekend and really hate missing the shower. We were looking forward to seeing everyone and visiting one last time just the 2 of us. But nature had a different plan for us this weekend and we just have to give up the control and let things be (as hard as that is for both of us)!

We will be sure to keep everyone updated on the latest news and we will get some of the ultrasound pictures scanned over the weekend and get them posted as well.
